That really depends on [a] the speed zone (b)weather conditions {c} how far back you were when the lights changed. When i drive approaching a set of lights at speed i have what i call a point of no return meaning if the lights change and i'm beyond that point i won't bother to stop. as you become more and more experienced you get to judge your stopping distances more accurately and lights won't ever be an issue.x1Heavy Thanks this.

You mean at 1:56?
Got you dead to rights on that one.tinytim Thanks this. -
The camera may well have triggered due to your wheelbase, but those have to be reviewed before the citations are sent out. That's likely when the decision was made not to cite you.

Not exactly. I've been at plenty of intersections where you do have that slack time. And there are times when all directions are red for a bit but it's usually for pedestrians to cross. The traffic lights here are no different than anywhere else, in my experience.

I assume that those clear license plate covers that protects from red light cameras are not allowed on trucks?

One thing I remember from trucking school. Stale green light.

Forget that gimmicy bs. Who cares about little metal plates on the front and back when your door and sleeper is plastered with MC number, unit number, company name etc etc etc etc.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

There are two intersections on my route that change so fast there is no way they are safe.
One, a junction, changes so fast from red to green to red again that from a stop you will be entering the intersection against the yellow and it will be green the other way as you are passing through. I treat it as a stop signed intersection. I am stopping regardless of the color of the light as I approach because it will be red before I get there.
The other, an intersection, changes almost as fast but only changes if there is a vehicle stopped at the light going the other way. It is just over a hill so you won't know what you've got until you are past the point of no return if you are at the speed limit.
Here is what bothers me the most about these:
You can manage these situations safely if you know about them. But if it's your first time down that road... I hope you don't kill someone.
And these are state road intersections. It's not some town that doesn't know any better.Rusty Trawler, x1Heavy and tinytim Thank this. -
If there's cameras in the immediate vicinity, there's your answer.Rusty Trawler and x1Heavy Thank this.
