This will probably sound like a stupid question @skootertrashr6, but seeing as how you are packing your spreader with you anyway, why not run with it on all the time? Is it because permits are more expensive due to the added length, or just to save on wear and tear?

Ooh ooh I know, they suck!SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 7 others Thank this.
-
It's not the weight of the blocking it's getting it right to set solid, it's not as bad as a 37 tractor but bad enough.SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 7 others Thank this.
-
It is not the permit cost but the escort cost for length, plus it can make getting into parking places and pick/delivery sites more challenging.SAR, noluck, passingthru69 and 10 others Thank this. -
Save on length mostly, and pilot cars if I don't need it in for weight reasons. Some places have to run a rear or front pilot car when I have it in just because of length. I prefer having it in, saves on some of the scrubbing of tires when making corners, but can make it interesting getting in and out of areas and backing up becomes more of a challenge and just finding a place to park gets more interesting
Usually don't have to put it in until I get close to 140,000lbs.SAR, noluck, snowman_w900 and 9 others Thank this. -
I have never pulled one, but they suck because of having to be so careful going through dips, or pushing the trailer on corners?SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 6 others Thank this.
-
Yeah dips and such can really get you in trouble plus backing up is no fun. If you can pull your shims and dump your air it ain't to bad.SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 4 others Thank this.

Trailer is going to turn on the fixed axles. Everything behind that turns into additional tail swing. Even with the pivot point that axle could potentially catch something if you turn too wide.SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 6 others Thank this.

Until the stinger takes all the weight.SAR, 4mer trucker, noluck and 8 others Thank this.
