Hate to say it but that's what you get for driving for US Xpress. Also, didn't you even bother to ask about what you were to be delivering and to whom? How can one be a "25yr.trucker" and NOT know to ask about what you'd be hauling?

I am one of those who started driving on the family dollar account with Werner. I learned how to back up on that account and I don't mean line up and 45 or straight in docks I see drivers struggle with at times. But doing blindside 90 around buildings and between gas meters and cars. On the other hand I had to have surgery twice on my shoulders from unloading those trailers. That account is a lot easier in the winter than it is during to summer. We had several drivers fall out due to heat injuries every summer.
Spartan0229 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Years ago, I talked to Werner about that account, but after cruising by my local Dollar General and seeing the unloading situation (in 90° heat) I knew right away it would suck! Never did drive for Werner. I prefer smaller companies.boesshawn Thanks this.

We ALL know those accounts are literal human slavery. Why do you think every company that offers them ARE ALWAYS HIRING FOR THOSE POSITIONS?!
superflow and JimmyWells Thank this. -
That's why the stores are called Family Dollar. The entire family goes in with one dollar to their names.
Jarhed1964, MidwestResident and Sol-dier Thank this. -
There really is a lot of truth to that! I work retail and see PLENTY of people, with or without families, that do NOT have money at all. They rely HEAVILY on credit cards, EBT, (food stamps), or someone else picking up their tabs.
This is TRULY & GENUINELY a sad situation all over!
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Several, several years ago when I was doing local work for Overnite, here in the town that I live, we had a Corning Re-Distribution. What they did, all the "rejects" Corning products from retail stores would be sent here for distribution to Corning Factory Outlets located in the so called Factory Outlets Centers. We had one of these here and about once a month we would get a trailer load, around 20 some pallets, shrink wrapped. The outlet had no dock. I had to take a pallet jack and get each pallet to the rear of the trailer and then break the pallet down, one by one piece came off, I up in the trailer handing each piece down to another person. On a hot day, let me tell you, it was hell.
Now, I went in one day and the terminal manager called me in his office and said, the manager of the Corning Outlet store made a complaint about me, said I was too slow. Before I clocked in, went back to my car, drove over to the outlet and confronted her. She was shocked that I would do something like this and the terminal manager was too, I told them both, I ain't on the clock yet, I am doing this on my own, so back off!! Told that woman, hey I ain't got but two speeds and you sure don't want to see the other speed.Told the terminal manager, you think I am slow, get another driver to do this.OPUS 7, Spartan0229, Texas_hwy_287 and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm driving on one of those accounts. It's definitely baptism by fire. The turnover is ridiculous as are the number of slow speed maneuver incidents. And I would take cold over heat too. Just about the time you think it can't get any crazier it does. I'm thinking about going into flatbed.
