Are 14 ply steer tires allowed? Found a great deal on some BFG ST244 tires

I was shopping around for some ST244 tires in 11r22.5 and found these for dirt cheap: $176.93 - BFGoodrich ST244 - tires | Buy BFGoodrich ST244 tires at SimpleTire

Only problem is they're 14 ply. I always run light on the steers, usually about 10k, no more than 11k because I can't move my trailer more forward. Would these be a good option for me or am I missing something? $633 shipped to my door, including FET, is a great deal

14 ply is your typical steer tire it only means you can put 6175 lbs per tire unlike the 16 ply you can run 7160 lbs per tire.

Well I ended up finding them even cheaper. Newegg had them for $202 but with $50 shipping so 2 tires were $505 shipped. If this isn't a pricing mistake, it's a killer deal. I guess I'll see if I get them in a week or two.

If they do show up, check the date code. My guess is they are pretty old and someone is trying to get rid of them.
If they are older than 5 years, I wouldn't run them on the steer axle.

BF Goodrich ST244, people seem to like them a lot on here.

I know a few guys that have tried there drive tires and they been having good luck with them. I myself been sticking with Kelly tires.

Yeah I figured I'd give them a try for the price. Even Chinese steers are close to $300 a piece. As long as they're not too old they should be a good replacement for the Roadlux crap I'm running now.

Even my wholesale distributor quite selling Roadlux. That could be a sign!
