Driving hours

    Is there a way that you can keep driving without taking a 34 hour reset. Like if you stay below a certain amount of hours so you don't have to reset? Or is there no way around it.

    8.75 every single total of line 3 and 4 and don't ever go to Canada and you can drive every single day until you die.

    Yes, 70 hours in a rolling 8 days period is the limit.

    If you work 8.75 hours a day, that's driving and on duty combined, you will never exceed the 70.

    So if we are doing teams, I do the 8.75 and somebody else does 8.75 then that's all we can do that day start back up again the next morning. Sorry if the question sounds dumb just getting information because I'm going to be a new driver.

    In theory, yes. Team driving they want the drivers to stop only for fuel, more or less. Say you each drive 70 hours, that's 140 hours. There are 168 hours per week. You will still have times where you are between loads and since there's 2 of you, a reset doesn't actually take as long.

    For example, if driver 1 is almost at 70 hours and driver 2 is also coming up on 70 but will be able to get to consignee, driver 1 is already 12 hours into his reset, 22 more hours (call it 1 full day) and driver 1 can begin with a new 70, as driver 1s 12 hour shift ends, driver 2s reset is completing. If you are running that hard, that day off will be appreciated. You don't want to wear yourself right down to the nub, called driver burn out. That takes more than a reset to fix, often at least the better part of a week - everyone is different. Happens to most everyone at some point in their driving career.

    Yes, that's all for the day IF YOU MUST AVOID A 34 RESET. 34 Reset is voluntary, never legally mandatory. If you drive your 11, and co-driver drives his 11, you can keep going until you each use up.your 70. At that point you stop and wait until midnight to get hours back. You might have to wait until the next midnight, not the one closest to now.

    Wait until midnight? Midnight has nothing to do with a log book, it runs on a 24hr cycle so the only thing that comes into play is when you start your clock not the time of day.

    Midnight has everything to do with it... for the vast majority of drivers. For most drivers their logbook "day" starts and ends at midnight, regardless of when their personal day or "clock" starts. The logbook start time is determined by the carrier, not the driver. And the default, unless designated differently by the carrier, is midnight.

    Therefore, for most drivers, when running on recap, hours are recaptured at midnight.
