i was off from work for a couple of days due to rain. he has other more senior drivers that get hours sometimes someone else might drive my truck. i have a log in my truck that i fill out that keeps track of miles and fuel. seems like when someone else drives my truck they fail to fill this out. there is 18 miles that are unaccounted for. i am fairly diligent when backing into the paver to make sure that the mudflaps are chained up. if they arent chained up they can be torn. anyways the last time i drove the mudflaps werent torn. now they have tears in both. someone else drove my truck and now the mudflaps are ripped. word has it that he makes his drivers pay for mudflaps. this is obscene. i make $15.50 per hour driving a class B dump truck that often grosses at 68,000 lbs. these mudflaps were worn out when i got on the truck and already had a couple of smaller tears. he wants me to buy new ones. what a @@@
he also expects that the driver provide their own PPE. hard hard, gloves, yellow vest, spray bottle to spray the dump box and HE PAYS NOTHING. OHSA law requires that the company provide at least the PPE items free of charge to the employee.
this guy seems like the ultimate cheapskate. park of me wants to leave right now but i need a job, experience and something on my employment record that i at least stick around for a year TWO tops. this guy is aweful, and he is a multimillionaire. he personally OWNS 12 trucks. i dont think he is broke, but i am half the time.
i want to tell him i will pay for or buy nothing. im sure there is a law against requiring hourly employees from pay for things like mudflaps. where does he draw the line? if the truck needs a clutch, transmission, ect..... does he expect the employee to pay for it..... LOL. here are the keys, get lost applesuace.
can my employer force me to pay for mudflaps?

Well, since you are leaving him anyway, so might as well leave now.
It's getting old hearing how horrible your life is. You might want to start working on improving your situation instead of coming here whining over every little thing. -

so can he or not force me to pay for this stuff? legality of it?
the thing is i dont really mind the work. i had a decent run today. i just have a hard time getting past bad bosses. i wish my last job was full time as i would have stayed there. they were decent to me but i couldn't afford to run 1 or 2 days a week due to weather. -
There is no point in answering. You will simply find something else to whine about in 10 minutes.
If you really, really want to know go Google it. -
He needs to grow up, more than he needs a new job. The "everyone is out to screw me" attitude he keeps posting.. Well there is one common person in all those posts.bowhunter67, Western flyer, buddyd157 and 5 others Thank this. -
Honestly, I'm not surprised. If you live in AZ I could probably name the slophouse company you're with. I have worked for two aggregate companies in my career. Both were absolute toilets. Never treated worse as a driver that has a perfect record. Circumstances dictated that I was home every night so that's what I did at the time. Hit the road again as soon as I could.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
