How to Start a Trucking Company with no knowledge about the Trucking Industry

i think its a huge risk to start any company in a field you do not have experience in. not saying its impossible. but it will defiantly add many challenges and additional overhead. i think the suggestion of buying a existing company where the owner is willing to stay on as a mentor for a while was a great suggestion.

 

Or you could be like this guy. 7 bobtails lined up in 7 full size spots at the petro in chicago. He has been out here working on them all morning out of his wife's minivan. Says he owns all 7. 3 diffrent company names and 3 diffrent dot numbers.

 

One of his drivers shows up and took a truck so he moved his minivan to hold the empty spot now.

 

did you check the safety score on those dot numbers? curiosity would have gotten the better of me

 

He might not even be one of those companies or not even leased. Sometimes they just have removable company names and DOT numbers just swapping them out whenever needed.

 

I have no experience in plastic surgery. However, I've seen pictures of Kim Kardashian's butt and it looks pretty good.

Yea 3 were leased to jb hunt. 2 were leased to another company and 2 another with a 2xxxxxx dot number. Looks like jb trucks were container trucks. I talked to him just long enough to see if maybe I could persuade him to double up his parking. After about 1 second I saw it would have been futile. After lunch a couple of well dressed mexican fellows were standing at my truck. They asked if I wanted a load going to Alabama? I guess they were breaking into the brokering buissness?

 

Last week I was talking to a fella who used to own a small fleet of trucks. I ask him if rates drive him out. "No one of my drivers got caught at the border with a load of drugs". You can do everything right in this business and still get screwed.
