Well, I'll go along with the party time when it's all over at that point and no one can tell you what you can and cannot do with state legal enjoyment.
Ive always had the positon that it's your body you put whatever you want into it. It does not come out right because trucking has all these rules, laws, testing etc and so forth, it's a kill joy. Before 1994, you bought a bottle or a 6 pack or whatever and no drug testing anywhere in sight, no one talked about that stuff in trucking. It was useful for bad roads. It is singular when one of my trainers spent some time teaching me how to drink while driving a 18 wheeler but not too fast or you get drunk. lol. Those were the days I tell ya.
Pot is not my flavor, Arkansas just recently passed medical pot and it's legal for that purpose provided.... you give up all your other rights, particularly your weapons at home and your 2nd amendment. Also your CHL is taken away from you by the police when they understand you are using medical pot as part of your treatment.
I did not pursue much of a drug life style in my time, I have experiemented with LSD and a bit of this and that only to discover that certain drugs were not my flavor and did not work well in my system. Schnapps and smoking 100's reds were the two things I enjoyed much in life back then. Smoking I gave up decades ago and we are a dry state for certain root liquors by law. I have to go to memphis or something to get a case of the stuff, no problem.

True. It IS a bit of an overreach by law enforcement, IMO, but that's just how it is now.
Again, I agree 100%, keep it out of the truck.
Vaya con Dios, x1.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
You too. See you on flip side Sir.homeskillet Thanks this.

There are local & dedicated driving jobs that have you home daily. Most trucking companies do pee test. Don't limit yourself to only McDs, Burger King, Wendy's, if you know what I'm saying. Your kids will want to see you more than just a couple of hours every few weeks.

I don't smoke weed and am not saying it should be legalized but many prescription drugs by these evil pharmaceutical companies are much more harmful for your body then a natural plant coming out of the ground. I don't take prescriptions and see a wellness specialist and have never felt better.
homeskillet and carramrod32 Thank this. -
Good luck in your search though. You have plenty of options with 4.5 years in. www.indeed.com is a good website for a job search. If I were to go back to OTR Schuster, Fremont Contract Carriers and Roehl (I'm a former driver there) would be at the top of my list.

I'm a old guy that spent the formative years of my children chasing the white line. I didn't want local work, I only wanted OTR and I paid a high price for it with my family. To me your family, and your relation with them should be your first priority, if I had it to do over again, I would have found a local job and spent more time with my family, but that is just me.
As for the pot, it is a different world today, in the 70s you gun like a fool, pop little white pills, and it seemed nobody cared. The problem is many of those old hands are dead today, or so screwed up they are not good to anyone.
I wish you the best of luck.x1Heavy, carramrod32, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
I too remember the days of a cooler of beer in the truck and random drug tests which if failed usually resulted in a week off. Things sure as hell have changed in my absence! Lol
Best of luck to you going forward!Badmon, augiedoggie41 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I agree. I spent my kids' entire childhood in a truck...and regret every single second of it.
Now I've got grandkids, AND a local job---so the grandkids can have what my own kids didn't....me.homeskillet and x1Heavy Thank this.
