Be careful adding HP. Running that heavy you'll start tearing everything else up if you go too strong.

Diesel Dave, noluck and LoudOne Thank this.

It's fine if you drive correctly. I just went from 430 to 550. You ease into the power not jumping on it.

That same principle applies to even higher hp.

With great power comes great responsibility.......Winston Churchill (I think)

I run B-trains at 550hp in a NXS C-15 and get 3-3.5 mpg. If you want better mpgs, either pull less weight, or cruise at a lower RPM. These CAT's are thirsty, but they will run forever if you treat them right.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

At my gross I pretty much have to smash it like a red headed chick if I don't want a middle finger fest on the interstate.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I said less throttle in the lower range... If your in low range on a highway you have issues.....

Talk to other guys that pull heavy in mi and get a reflash. All the specs are fine for heavy work. Use should be able to get close to 5 if you drive it right and it isnt all stop and go 2 lane work. 1500 at cruising speed is where a heavy spec cat should be imo. Backing up loaded trains or doing field work with 3.55's etc isn't much fun in my world. Good luck with it. Looks like a nice unit.
