I prefer nights, as well. Same with vision.

Do you know how HARD it is to get into a dedicated, or ANY OS/OD/OW/HH gig anymore? So many kids coming into this industry, not taking it as serious as "need be." Heck, flatbed securement in and of itself is not even properly taught anymore.

My experience after about 2 decades trying to help drivers online is most new drivers will not look for anything but "please confirm my choice and accept my choice working for Are You Kidding Me Trucking will work out better than for the last 809 drivers. "I just signed a contract with AYKM Trucking and owe them my next born child. I was wondering are they a good company to work for? I leave for orientation in 18 minutes. Thanks."

Ya got a point there, sir. Then again, you DID say "most". . . . it's still not ALL. There's been many a fine hand turned out via help here and elsewhere, that I was proud to see roll on.

Yes, the problem in the economy is NOT ENOUGH MARXISM. Each company and each driver has a duty to them and their family to make wise decisions, not walk into the world like a new fawn and wait for the world to rub their back and provide them food. Nobody can or should care about your future than you. It's lazy and dishonest to blame others for not taking care of you, but then Marxism is so embedded in society many people feel it is.

Not really, many states are moving to allow night running. I delivered in nyc last night they would only let me go in at night.

There's a GREAT new TA right south of the I-35W and I-35E junction north of Hillsboro proper. Not even on my Rand McNally GPS although it's been there over a year. There's a steak house next to it that does a great ribeye and they serve adult beverages.

Great steaks is a big reason I miss being "out and about." Can't hardly get one here in Ohio, that's for sure. Twice the price, half the meat/tenderness/juiciness. Auuuugh.. Making me hungry.

EZ Money and Lepton1 Thank this.

I thanked your post because you seem to be aware of your choices. BUT, the reality of the "transportation industry" is you will be asked, more than a little, to get a load RIGHT NOW and run to delivery.

I currently own a truck and am leased to a company and terminal with 95% "go getters". I DO let the slackers know what they are doing to the rest of us.

Last year I serviced the HELL out of a new customer. It represented about $20K per year in MY POCKET averaged over all the driver's in my terminal. We don't have that account anymore, because one wilting Wilma couldn't keep his promise.

Are you getting into trucking to make a positive reputation and make bank, or are you getting into trucking to whine to mommy every night?

I lived in Ohio for years and never found one either!

I run out to Kansas City and Wichita now and have found some really good steaks!
    Texas was always good too!

Big Don and G13Tomcat Thank this.
