There's a state trooper there that likes to have trucks towed for simple things such as using paper logs, because he claims he used to be a trucker and knows all the tricks of the trade. Just so happens his buddy owns a towing business.
Soneone made OOIDA aware of this, but don't know if any progress made.

Really.... I would love to see that. Talk about a law suit wIting to happen. Until December 17 paper logs are legal so I wonder what is his justification. If he thinks something is wrong. It's simple..... Prove it!

He gets his calculator and lap top out and goes over the logs then says there's no way the driver can keep the same average mph day after day. He says, "I know what you're doing with these paper logs because I was a trucker for a few years." Then he puts the driver out of service right there on the side of the road and has the truck towed.

I heard a similar story near the tristate border for traffic on 49.

Never had any issues in a CMV in Michigan. I run (mostly) legal..... 65 in a 60, maybe.

I really dont see the problem with it being year round even. If you run clean, so what? It is the drivers that think they can get away with what ever they are doing that need to be wary.

Well, it pretty bad when a trooper puts a driver out of service for being 30 minutes ahead of his log, when the guys on paper logs. Then has his buddy tow the truck and charges the driver a couple thousand dollars tow bill. I've forgotten the exact amount of the tow bill, but it's between $2000.00 and $3000 dollars. OOIDA got involved because it's a regular routine from one certain trooper in one certain area of the interstate in Michigan. It's a moneymaker for the state, the trooper, and the tow truck owner. I'm not going to get into an argument over this, but it's so obvious what's going on, OOIDA felt it necessary to put their lawyers on it.
