Ah you mean before I flip up the little dinger that makes it faster?
I do ease it up to 5th, but once I get there it's pretty much hammer time.

We have a T600 3406E with 3.55 and a 9 speed and it #### near impossible to drive off-road pulling 86,000
The 18 speed and 4.10 in this thing makes it so easy.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Even then it's not always neccasary. Hills sure. When that throttle is hard on the floor your mileage is out the window
-
True enough but I don't know how else to merge into traffic than to stand on it for a mile.

UPDATE:
Ran 280 miles, half loaded to 154,000lbs and half empty at 45,000lbs. Burned 65 gallons of fuel for 4.3 mpg.
I was easy on the throttle when I could be (IE running down a two lane with little traffic to get to highway) and I made a better effort of carrying speed off of downslopes up the other side.
Instead of staying at 60, I'd run up to 65 or so downhill and stay right in 18th up the other side, lugging lower to say 1300 or so instead if downshifting to 17th.
Where I knew I needed to downshift to make the hill I did it slightly earlier and carried power up the hill instead of bogging out to the point where I absolutely had to shift.
I guess making the route a few times helps. -
I had the truck flashed to 550 heavy haul today, we'll see if that does anything.
Are the fuel and boost wire mods worth anything?Oxbow Thanks this. -
The copper they're made from is worth about $.35

So no noticeable power or mileage gain ?Oxbow and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.
