Yep, I had something helpful. Sent him a message to call me before posting in this thread. I was thinking of buying him a bus ticket home but alas no call. Not just going to buy something like this without talking to them.
I don't see you stepping up to help, just listing excuses why something can't be done. You eat bologna, pb&j for a year if you have to in order to protect yourself.
The company did not prevent him from having a get home fund. Not that they don't deserve the blame for leaving him stranded but not for a driver not to be able to get himself home.
Stranded by company out of state with no money

Totally! This might be a blessing in disguise. A free Florida vacation. If it were me I would have been stranded in Fargo.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Mine goes off when I'm sent beyond 5hrs one way - when I have to haul dry van (hate, hate, hate, hate, hate it). Tonight was a DV night (cause someone F'ed up the schedule and put me on vacation..... what?..... I wish!) - Poland: Scarborough: Hollis (all ME) to Auburn, MA & back to origin. 10 hrs. Begrudgingly, 'okay'. I ditched OTR for a reason. And it wasn't because I hated my own bed or fairly regular runs... The schedule is right tomorrow, so apparently my vacation is over.
OP - cut ties sooner next time. I'm sure the writing was on the wall. Know the rules and ALWAYS trust your gut. If something seems fishy, it probably is.
Meh............... I'd rather sleep in the day cab. I can find a solid 5' plank to span that gap between the seats.Airborne Thanks this. -
This describes 80% of Americans. I see a lot of people who will buy a new car, finance it for 7 years with no down payment and then leave the ####er on the side of the highway when it breaks down. They can afford to put gas in it but they can't afford to get it towed or fixed.
Most Americans are retar... uh, I mean... mentally challenged.Airborne, AModelCat, Jazz1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
9 day's in a motel in Daytona ! Should have used that money for fuel and went home! Just sayin

it is highly possible, your employer is hitting the bankruptcy route.
hopefully they will get the fuel cards turned back on again, and you get home, clean out the truck and say sayonara.....or however it is spelled.
best to get out of there, before this crap happens again, and i'm banking on, that it will. what will be next you ask..>???
your pay!!!!!
bail out when you get back!!!!!!Mr Budeedee Thanks this. -
They need to legislate a law where drivers are free to leave with no consequences
in situations like or similar to this .... drivers are held prisoner by the DAC system
In the current system you try to save yourself and you may just ruin your chances
at the next place due to an abandonment chargeAirborne Thanks this. -
well even f a driver were to leave and be "DAC'd", when word gets around the company failed to pay the worker or keep up with the fuel cards, i would have to surmise a new employer would laugh at the DAC.
no employer will hold any weight to a bad DAC under these circumstances.Maj. Jackhole, Mr Budeedee, Bean Jr. and 2 others Thank this.
