Better yet, starting reading and paying attention to the old hands on this forum giving advice regarding running under their own authority. Pay attention to the numbers. If you haven't done so already, make a spreadsheet with projected profit and loss. Download load board apps and start looking at what brokers are paying to move freight and find lanes that have high rates.

I gotta go now. I pick up a 700 mile load paying $3250 to the truck.

 

That's how is going since spring show up! I have done plenty of 600-1200 miles for anywhere between 1500-4000!

Buy your OWN truck, not a lease a truck in your name then get your own authority and you'll see that a $1 mile load is only aceptable as a bad backhaul from Maine or similar poor loads states. Even then you could just drive empty to pa and get a better rate there.
