Insurance says my truck is not totaled

I'm a body repair man and that truck isn't neat being totaled. It's an expensive fix but it's not totaled. My advise is for you to shop around and see if you can get it repaired. I wouldn't mention how much the check amount is but take a lot of pictures and go to some local shops and get a few estimates. Don't go to any shade tree shops but reputable ones... even the dealer's bodyshop...

 

Doesn't the "Made Whole" principle kick in?

The "at fault" party needs to make you whole i.e. return you to a status that's reasonably close to where you were prior to the accident. This, I would take it as enable you to to get a vehicle that has not been involved in any accidents.

But then again, this might not apply to a commercial policy.

 

Unless you're cheap like me. Buy new and run the car until its miled out. Wrecked title might mean $250 difference at trade in time lol.

 

Every accident where my insurance company is involved I have my lawyer deal with it and he makes sure that I don't get screwed.

My assets are insured, I pay high premiums that has been driven up because the companies don't want to incur losses that they should be prepared to take, and I also want to make sure that my assets hold their value throughout the life which is the purpose of insurance in the first place.

So no armchair crap from me, it is my advice to anyone who gets into an accident, especially like this to make sure they cover their butts so not to get screwed.

 

Except the difference in this case is he isn't dealing with the " at fault" party, thy don't have Insurance. He is dealing with his own Insurance company so not sure how much you can squeeze them for the extras.
