Ha! I have been to Memphis and it is most definitely sketchy! Was with my trainer and he was driving, this dude threw a can of Mountain Dew at us. Think we weren't going fast enough up the on ramp.....or maybe he thought I was thirsty!

    SHOJim and bzinger Thank this.

Running one down and simply "hitting" are slightly different animals.

Be honest, did you do it?

If yes, man up and take responsibility like a professional.

If no, stick by your side of the story and don't falter. If they won't have it, perhaps it's time for a new company.

I sat at our lot one slow day and watched LTL and OTR guys coming in for deliveries and I saw 1) LTL guy pull one of a landscape boulder under his tandems, 2) OTR guy who bragged about once being an instructor at a CDL school hit our trailer in the door next to him as he pulled out of the dock (trailer on trailer), and 3) OTR guy backing in next to our roll off dumpster push the dumpster with his trailer not once but three times while watching sight side out the window.

The boulder guy backed up, adjusted and rolled on.

Trailer guy was stopped, denied everything and was seen happy as hell when told to just go. No one saw dumpster guy but me and it's a dumpster and I'm a driver so I just told him I'd spot him and he set-up again then put it in the hole.

That one day changed my outlook on drivers and boosted my confidence a lot. I'm the guy who gets out of the truck to check my blind side clearance when unsure. But, I've made mistakes too. Stuff happens.

Maybe you didn't hit the road sign. If nothing else, from now on, when turning, I bet you'll swing wider and watch the trailer closer just to "be sure."

I seriously do not think I hit a sign. I really feel like I would know that I hit something. Maybe someone saw a sign knocked over and assumed I did it. I am at a loss. I would have no problem admitting my mistake if I really made one.

Then deny the hell out of it.

And keep an eye on those tandems.

Even if you did flatten it, it's not the end of the world or your driving career.

    Stuff happens.
