I recently got approved from both companies, & I've read a few reviews on both, but I can't decide. Also got the ok from Sweet Express out of Grand Radpids but I havent read much good about them, or much at all for that matter. With Knight I would be running the Sapa account out of Carlisle, Pa. Recruiting said they go to Montreal often which is about 80 miles from the house and the route would get me home a few times during my three weeks out.
With Schugel I would have to be out 5-6 weeks with 7 off because technically I'm out of their hiring area but they are willing to work with me. I like the fact that Schugel has APU'S in the trucks, and they run mostly KW. I have been running reefer since November, and that's what I'd be doing with J&R. I was a little concerned with the pay, .38 cpm starting. I was making .48 at my last job but the miles just weren't there. Knight is .42 cpm + $35 trap, $15 stop & $100 border crossing. I like the fact I would be getting back I to flats and if I do go with them it will be a stepping stone to get into ATS for their heavy haul program.
Knight Or J&R Schugel

Knight told me they had Apu's, they dont. Knight does the hair test which goes back 1 year so beware if you've been naughty.

Two words: Knight blows
Two more words: Knight liessnowmantrucking101, Dna Mach, mushroom1464 and 5 others Thank this. -
The Sapa account for Knight is their "elite fleet," per se. I know a guy over there doing really well. Would you be dedicated? If you really want to get into flatbed, out of the 2 you listed, go with Sapa. They are regarded much higher than the basic "Knight" company.
Just make SURE you get it in writing that you will in fact, be on the Sapa fleet for Knight. Don't let them pull a fast one on you.UpstateFreight Thanks this. -
Yeah I would be dedicated, Cressona to Montreal, and sometimes out to Michigan. The recruiter I've been working with is the dedicated account manager for SAPA. His name is Gus, he keeps telling me that they need more Canada eligible drivers in the fleet. I have my enhanced license and live 30 mins from Cornwall. I've heard good things about the SAPA account and I'm leaning towards it heavy. I pulled flats for Western Express last year but wasnt impressed with them. I really did enjoy the flatbed work though. I mostly hauled lumber & coils for WSX. Occasionally I'd get a deck set to pull back to trashville. I also like the fact that Knight has some conestoga's in the fleet as well.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

It wouldn't be a stepping stone to get onto heavy haul at ATS.
If you have 1 year experience or at least 8 months with 1 company and a csa score under 15 just come to ATS.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Here's a "pal" of mine...check this out. Western to Knight to Sapa.

I plan on staying with them for atleast a year if I do go on with them, and I've got zero accidents and zero tickets.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
