I am going through Central's Riverside/Fontana, CA School and am due to take off around 11/12/08 with my trainer. My question is if anyone knows where I can get a full list of Terminal Locations. I would like to move out of the San Bernardino area. But I would like to see where there are terminals out there.

BTW. The training program is a fast and furious school. You are expected to learn quick and retain the information given, but they are Hell Bent on getting you to pass! They will help you out as much as they can!

I'd recommend this school for anyone who wants to get into trucking with little to no experience. We have two with Class A licenses, three with prior driving experience, three with no experience, and three with no experience or ever driven a manual transmission.... Needless to say I'll be wearing my crash helmet for that Road Trip :D

They told me training time is based on miles,14k and change. don't remember the hundreds, like 240 or somthing like that, I sent an app in but haven't heard back, probably too old for them.

Basically, there are 3 Days of Classroom, 9 Days of Yard Time (Pre-Trip, Skills, and Road Tests) and 2 days of Orientation (Explains your pay, business practices, etc) Then you are passed on to a trainer for 4 weeks... the trainer goes farther in depth on the daily tasks of running your own truck and delivery. After your four weeks with the trainer you then go back to the classroom (Not necessarily the one you trained at) and take 2-3 days of 'Upgrades' (basically information you should know from your schooling and trainer) after passing your tests you are then given you set of keys to your own Company Truck to solo!

As for the amount of miles... I haven't heard of a set amount of miles. I'll check into it though.

I'm only on my 2nd day of yard time and so far enjoy the Company and the people I train with. I'd recommend the school to people who are fast learners and can take a little of tough love! They want you to pass, so they push you.... and for some people that is new to them and don't care for it:biggrin_2553:... so my advice. Suck It Up!:biggrin_25510:

If you can pass a DOT physical then you can drive a truck. You can be 90 yrs old they dont care.

I am currently in the Riverside/Fontana School. Class 167.

The total costs of the school is $3,000 but you are not payed while in the school. There is only one payment plan that I know of, besides paying in full, which is to pay $25 a week (100 a month) with which Central will pay $150 a month. In turn you will only have to pay $1200 and Central will Cover the $1800. The only other option is to go into their Lease/Operator Program, if you do that (3 months of employment, minimum) they will forgive your student debt, but beware! For a little more information here is a basic timeline of the schooling:

    Week 1 - In Classroom
    Mon. Processing / Paperwork
    Tues. Classroom
    Weds. Classroom
    Thurs. DMV /Classroom
    Fri. Yard/PreTrip Practice
    Sat. Yard/PreTrip Practice

    Week 2
    - At the Yard with the trucks.
    Mon. PreTrip Test
    Tues. Skills Practice
    Weds. Skills Test
    Thurs. Road Time
    Fri. Road Practice
    Sat. Road Practice

    Week 3 - 1 Day Yard, 1 1/2 Days Classroom
    Mon. Yard/Road Test
    Tues. Classroom/Orientation
    Weds. Classroom/Orientation (Half Day)

    Week 4-5 - $425 a week

    Week 6-7 - $500 a week

    Week 8-6 months
    - .29 Cents a mile

Thanks for your help on this

Overall are you pretty happy with CRF <>?

I plan to pay for my own school at a local trucking school

As I dont really like the deal of a year contract and all over my head

And yes I have checked with every company I have showed intrest in this school and meet any trucking school standards

I'm indifferent about Central, they get the job done when it comes to the training but I believe that they need to hire some more personnel so that they can keep up with the students that they are taking in! The classes are getting bigger and bigger, but they aren't hiring any new staff to work with the students at a personal level!

Just a little info... you aren't required to work for Central for an entire year. You can go through the school and get your license you can leave anytime you want.
