You asked several questions specific to your situation. Here is my take on these questions based on your situation. The first question you asked was worth it to take time off to fight a ticket. In my opinion the answer to this is going to be like do you like driving Fords or Chevys. My opinion is it depends on the charge and the distance involved. A friend of mine got a ticket in Georgia for failure to maintain lane. He lives in Ohio and just did not feel it was worth it to drive in his personal vehicle from Springfield Ohio to Warner Robbins Ga plus a hotel room just to fight what was at the time a $70 ticket. He just mailed in the fine. Unfortunately in the case of OTR truckers this is a MAJOR problem and it stinks.

The last question has a lot of variables. I am assuming your I rarely get tickets comment to mean your MVR is zero. If this is the case I doubt you will lose a job over it. Make sure you list the conviction on your yearly review. Major problem? Doubtful. Minor issue? Most of the time true.

I did see pre-paid legal plans discussed. I believe in them just be aware not all pre-paid legal plans are created equal.

Sounds like the cop needs to know the laws better but also sounds like he is doing what he can to help you with this advice. With a CDL value your points and get an attorney.

I actually agree an attorney is the best situation. This is why I am in total agreement with the post earlier in this thread about pre-paid legal plans. I had one my last 10 years on the road. However short of a pre-paid hiring an attorney and getting attorney is not cheap. I am not going to throw out numbers here but they are high.

Could be a major problem if you do get another ticket or two and end up at Jack in the Box? Hopefully not.It wouldnt be worth it to me and sounds like you've slready copped a guilty plea.If you have "deep pockets" for lawyers, you could get it knocked off,but you say no more tickets for you,so ,I wouldnt sweat it.

Not sure what state your in but I've had major success with The Ticket Clinic... would definitely give them a call if they're available in your area. Last ticket I got was an excessive speeding in unsafe driving conditions... $165. Called ticket clinic and paid $155 for a lawyer and case was dismissed. Stupid world we live in when the police come screw with you, write you a ticket, you have to PAY to have a lawyer just to prove you didn't do anything wrong... and you don't even get your money back when you're proven innocent.

As much as I agree with others who say fight it, I didn't say not to. I said not to worry about it because it is not a major career stopper so to answer his question.

Company driver with this wouldn't be a big deal. If it was a ticket where there is an indication of carelessness or recklessness, like 15 over or fail to stop at a stop light, yes that would effect insurance but this is not that huge of a deal to lose sleep over.

Another thing to consider is how what your points balance is in your state depending on how your state does it. Here in VA I have +5 which is the best you can get. I'd have to get hit with over 5 points before I went negative and had demerit points. I like having them in the bank and if really worth it I'd fight in court, but it would take a lot for me to get a lawyer for a traffic citation.

Truck Drivers in my opinion should hire an attorney if charged with reckless driving or DWI/DWI in any vehicle. As far as the other stuff goes it depends on how your wired and your MVR. I once successfully fought two bull tickets in Habersham County Ga State Court. Failure to maintain lane and a tag light out. $220 is a lot of money and I took the time and fought them. Would I have traveled more then 50 to 100 miles, no I would have just paid them. I had the breathing room on my MVR.
