Thanks. What about those boxes on the containers? Are they trackable?

Maersk has GPS on their Reefers...When a load of crab meat was stolen, they found the MT in seconds. the PD got the history and the theif turned off the reefer unit @ x location, the went there found a makeshift yard under an overpass ramp full of stolen trucks and construction equipment and a domestic reefer trailer [whole rig was also stolen] full of the crab meat...wouldn't have been caught if he hadn't shut it off.
tucker and JimmyWells Thank this. -
Interesting. So it's trackable if the unit is OFF.

a lot of the companies that own their own chassis are doing the samething, way too many containers were getting stolen and thief around here were getting too smart so companies are putting the gps trackers on the chassis where they cant be reached
JimmyWells Thanks this. -
They would have to notify the carriers at some point for that to be legal.

It was traceable all the time, it sends a notice when the reefer shuts down. By the time we figured out it was gone, it was sitting on the side of the highway miles from the unloading spotJimmyWells Thanks this.
