Hi Friends,
Can anyone help me come up with a list for NEW OTR DRIVERS concerning Games, Tricks, and Law-Breaking actions that companies do to drivers to make their lives miserable.
Are the following reasons actually "Valid" concerns or Not?
- Forced driving hours ? (making drivers go over the limits)
- Load Over-takes (you run outta hours and another driver takes over your load)
- Making you sit your 36 stranded (some-where outta your home town).
- Forcing Drivers to run in dangerous weather conditions?
???
- Anyway, if you can think of anymore or
- have comments about the above, i'd really appreciate it.
Thanks~
Tricks that OTR companies Play...???

All myths. Nothing but big paydays and open roads out here.

1.Everyone's gonna be on elog. Nobody will be forced to drive out of hours. And even on paper YOU control the truck. Blame nobody but yourself for being caught out of hours.
2.Load has to get there. They very well might route you to a terminal to drop the load and give it to someone else if you're behind because of something.
3.you can count on that happening at some point. Unless your company as a whole gets people home for the weekend.
4.Again, YOU are in control of the truck. If the weather is bad pull over and wait it out. No load is worth a life. Communicate with dispatch and let them know when you're stopping because of weatyer. If they tell you to drive into a blizzard find another company
One thing you're going to learn is how dispatchers will screw with your money. Get on their bad side and suddenly you're getting crap loads with low miles that has delivery appt that doesn't make sense. Had to go thru this at Werner DGBUMBACLADWAR and pattyj Thank this. -
The make believe salaries recruiters tell you are always cute.

I have talked to truck drivers who have told me that load takeovers is not a serious concern of theirs. Their main concern is that they get PAID for the miles that they have driven, along with NOT violating hours of service (HOS) laws.
I have also talked to truck drivers who both absolutely DESPISE having their loads taken over by another driver. They want the satisfaction of actually delivering the freight that they started out with, along with backing their trailers into the spots that are going to unload their freight.

What is #3 ?
What is the 36 your talking about? -
All drivers have to do is say NO if their dispatcher tries to intimidate drivers to do something illegal.Problem with today's industry too many drivers don't have a spine which makes companies treat them like puppets.LoneCowboy and tman78 Thank this.

Just a guess on my part, I think he is referring to the 34 hour reset.
