I've been know to park in fire lanes from time to time to make deliveries.
No big thing. If I see smoke, I'll move. -

I got kicked out of a loves once in Virginia because I parked one outside the line. It happens.
I'd park in the rv section of the waco j and never answer just to irritate the knocking employees.

Location: Pilot, Weatherford, TX
Time: Sunday night 11:30 PM
A knock at the door wakes me just as I was starting to sleep good. I get up and move the curtain and see some guy in a "SECURITY" jacket. I roll down the window about half way ...
Dude: "I really hate to do this, but I'm going to have to ask you to move (leave), trucks parked on the outside to your left can't leave when they are ready to leave with you parked here, there's not enough room"
Me: "I'm in a spot. WTF?"
[Dude starts looking around on the pavement in the dark. I grab my flashlight and illuminate a faded yellow line along the left side of my truck to his right of where he is standing. The line is barely visible at the front but becomes better visible back along the trailer]
Dude: "Oh. I apologize. Sorry." and proceeds to walk away
Me: Shakes my head, rolls up the window, and tries to get back to sleep.
Meanwhile, I can hear trucks parking alongside, then leaving 10 minutes later, all night. I specifically noticed there was a line when I pulled in, and managed to get parked on the last spot on the end in the center site parking area, next to the fuel exit driveway.
These "security workers" are assigned a difficult job, but they really need to be issued a $4 flashlight and trained in it's proper use BEFORE they proceed to wake up drivers who are properly parked.
SIDE NOTE: I arrived there about 17:00. Lot was full. I staged up by the CNG fuel area watching for a departing truck. Waited about 3 minutes, one pulled out and that's the spot I snagged [that was in between 2 trucks]. I guess the moral of the story is, if you have an option, try and keep away from areas where it might appear you are "beyond the last spot". This particular end spot is not bad to be an end spot because the lot is layed out well and I was not concerned about being clipped even if the truck to my left pulled out. Moral of the story I got was to carry a gallon of cheap yellow paint.

"Knocks" are the equivalent of gunshots to truckers. They typically mean bad news or some other negativity rolling your way. I could just imagine former or ex truckers putting cushioning on their front doors and signs outside that say "PLEASE RING BELL OR TEXT TO THIS NUMBER INSTEAD!!".

I'm so glad I am a local driver now. Every morning when I roll in for fuel at the Pilot, I see a few guys blocking others in. I honestly would hate to go back to living like that.

It's to the point if I absolutely have no other choice but park in a mega truck stop with mega fleeters........
I have to ask myself "where can I park so as not to get my hood torn off or get blocked in by some clueless idiot" ??
It was never this bad...
