It's not just what/how many watts a linear can do.It's how clean the audio is and how well built the linear is....
-
True, and the difference in 100 watts on a meter is negligible., not even half an s unit. My preference for class c is the quality of the build and being handmade, not mass produced. I don't talk ssb so ab1 isn't a selling point for me.
-
Well Texas Star is handmade and uses mass produced parts as do all the others. Theirs really only a handful of box builders who build a quality hand built linear out here anymore.
-
Texas Star is built by a tech at Galaxy Radios in Cali

I've got two awesome builders within forth miles of me, so I am fortunate. The problem is toshibas are getting scarce and DEI don't seem to be durable. Might have to buy one of those amps with a BLF transistor.
-
I hear ya it's all good it's to each his own. RF parts in Cali still has them best i know of.

Of course Galaxy recommends running their 47HP with the Dx1600x but after owning that 98vhp which I never was overly impressed with other than the quality of its receive I'm thinking no thanks Galaxy
