always fight every ticket
ti's all about revenue not safety and it can foul up your driving career bad.
the ticket can only get better, it can't get worse, there's no downside to fighting it
if everyone fought it, this crap would stop because it would totally plug up the system, they just expect everyone to pay and most people do.
15 over ticket. fight or pay?

Yeah, forget about being a truck driver, 10mph over in the rain tells me you have a tree waiting with your name on it. For real, no second chances out there.
Troopers always waiting in worst spots, he probably saved your life. The second citation is double fines. Insurance companies just dont tolerate it either. -
If post is true (no cdl?), he should be hauling freight 20 mph under posted speed limit for cars in the rain (sharp curves for example), then ease up to speed when out of danger area.
In my experience troopers watch high accident areas, they dont want to spend 30hrs inhaling smoke from a burning truck and will identify and correct bad drivers. -
Really?
You even have to ask?
Well let me explain something OP, if you can't watch your speed in a car, then you will end up being a crap driver in a truck.
Sorry but that seems to be a fact. -
Tough but true. OP, just pay the fine, give yourself a few years to grow up, THEN think about maybe getting your cdl.JReding Thanks this.

Unfortunately you'll have to pay and fight the ticket.
15 over doesn't look good, especially if you have anything else on your record. -
Dude you have to fight this! Even if it was 100% your fault, still fight it. Lawyers are not expensive for this thing. I paid I think $125 for mine last year and I got a 11 over in a hazmat commercial truck ticket dismissed. We all make mistakes, but 15 over is one of the big no-no's in the trucking industry (personal or commercial doesn't matter to them). You could even go to court yourself if you cannot afford the lawyer. Plead 'no contest' and explain that your looking into getting a CDL and this ticket will put you in a bind.
Green_20 Thanks this. -
Fight it hands down. Try and get it reduced worst case scenario. For a lawyer probably around 500 and then price of the fine. Depending how anal they are, you could just pay the max fine for the ticket, but not have it hit your record. Or the judge might make you pay the max fine and just reduce the ticket. Be sure to tell the lawyer you have a CDL etc.
I guess the determination really depends on how naughty you've been recently or in the not too distant past. Good luck!

from what i have read in the past, you can call (in most states) the prosecutors office, and ask for a lesser charge, like maybe a tail light out, or perhaps no seat belt, BUT STILL pay the fine in full.
usually (again from my past readings) the prosecutor accepts this, since the fine is paid.
good luck, and SLOW DOWN, you want a CDL, now you see how important your license is NOW!! -
If you fight it what are you hoping you can get your ticket reduced to? What was the hurry hat you had to speed?
