I took me about 5 or 6 days. and you are correct i very very very seldom did do a drop hook on the delivery side. To many times the gent will tell you that there a all these trailers there just for you to show up and there is only 1 empty, or a few with issues. I tried my best to live load as much as possible and hang on to a new trailer. as far as them taking your empty, i depends where you live. if you live in a metro area expect them to come ad get it in a 10 day to about 2 weeks. if you live way off the beaten path they are less likely to come and take the trailer. When they come to get it they will come get it! i know of a friend personally that they cam and cut the king pin lock off or glad hand lock off and take the trailer.
also i would recommend do not take older trailer to get them inspected. they $25 dollars to bring the trailer in or inspection, but the money is not worth it. Once on a Friday i thought i would be a god guy and get the trailer inspected since i was close by, but that was a very bad idea. I get the trailer inspected at a trailer repair facility, which had at least 40 landstar trailers there. They found something wrong with the trailer and would not let it leave and told me to call the trailer dept. i spoke to the manager and he told me to come back that afternoon and they would have one. Thankfully I was close to home and thankfully the did have the trailer. But imagine having a load to pick up that day or Monday you have no trailer, but you got $25 bucks!!! I would only get brand new trailers inspected, less likely t find something wrong with it. ad also these trailer shops need work so its easy for them t find something on your trailer and and of course they get to fix it.

Good advice, some of these agents will lie to you on the drop loaded situations. Oh yeah, I have 10 empties there. You get there and there is one trailer there and it is still loaded. Picking up pre-loaded trailers I have had pretty good luck.
And on the trailer inspections, LS trailer maintenance department is terrible. It takes forever to get any work/tires approved, I am talking hours. 40 minutes just to get someone to answer the phone. They can keep that $25. Dealing with them alone is enough to make you buy your Own trailer. -

I just finished my orientation here in Texas yesterday. I sure hope that I'm not stuck waiting 5 days on a trailer.

They will lend you the money to purchase a new trailer after you are with them for 1 year.

That's news to me. Wish I'd had known that last year.
Finished orientation Monday in Indy. Still no trailer. I had the same issue when I was here last time. Once you get a trailer you shouldn't have to deal with this issue for awhile though.oicu812 Thanks this. -
