What would worry me more than anything is being in an environment where you may wake up on any given day to 2 feet of snow or more having fallen. Or should I say, not wake up, because the snow covers the exhaust faster than it can be melted away and you die of carbon monoxide poisoning. That has actually happened to a few snowboarders and skiers who got snowed in waiting for some fresh tracks.

I always think is funny people could worry about toxic fumes or anything that could kill someone. We have 33,000 people being killed in traffic accidents every year that far more likely to kill anyone or me and nobody's is worried about that. Nobody wants to even slow down because that would be inconvenient.
That's 91 people will die today in traffic accidents. I wonder how many will get carbon monoxide poisoning and die ? -
Try your research in a tunnel in rush hour traffic. But don't you dare idle that truck!
RedRover Thanks this. -
I guess toxic fums could be a problem if drivers have old truck with exhaust leak and stuff. Thing that's amazing is an new emission truck is cleaner then the APU. So I would worry more about truck with the APU running vs a new emission engines

Most fumes will come from your own truck if you get an exhaust leak

I just fueled at a Pilot in NC and on the right side of the pump was the overpowering odor of feces. At first I thought I stepped in some and then realized it was emanating from the garbage can. Somebody must have dropped a duece in a bag and threw it out. Then you have the usual urine smell throughout the whole lot of most truck stops. One thing you learn quickly is NEVER step into any wet spots on the ground in a truck stop. A modern truck's exhaust is the least of your concerns.
