Well chalk one up to the national stupidity award for me.... Stopped at a sheetz in Parsons wv to get fuel. left my door open put the leftside nozzle in, went around to put in the rightside....(failed to notice the sign that said do not let go of nozzle) was still standing on right side of truck. I heard something splashing. When i relized what it was i ran back to the driverside to find the nozzle leaning against the door flooding my cab with fuel.I guess i pumped about 8 gallons into it before i got it under control. Now i gotta get home with burning eyes and a headache so i can clean this up. I know the carpet is probably ruined...truck only has 24000 miles on it. But i guess on the brightside my sinuses are clear for the moment.

Dude, that is a total bummer! Get a couple of bungie cords to hold those suckers down from now on.
-
gotta love those high-flow pumps

I salute you for sharing this. I would have taken it to the grave as a secret if I had.

If you can, stop and get some charcoal, a newspaper and some masking tape. Roll the charcoal into the newspaper and tape shut, so that its a neat little package. Set them around your floor where you can, to soak up any extra fuel and fumes. Or just lay newspaper down over it, when it gets soaked or saturated, throw it away and lay some fresh down.
Man, I'm sorry this happened to you, that just stinks. (no pun intended)Markvfl Thanks this. -
There's something that will fix it even quicker than this...

Hey plowboy, that is the type of thing that keeps the job interesting. Just seeing how many different things that a person can screw up is quite educational.

And hey man, it is experience.
Before I learned the need for bungees, I fueled the driveways of a few gas pumps myself. Just never did it with the door open.

Yep that has even happened to me and recently too... I did have my door shut, always do some habit from who knows where, I have seen this happen to a four wheeler when I was much younger working at a gas station. I LMAO about it at the time but it was a danger. Oh and be sure the bungies are in good shape or they will break too. I have a bad habit of using my old ones and they do break so keep an eye on them. If you ask some flatbedder for a couple he will most likely give them to you. So that could save you a couple of bucks.

That sucks! Diesel is just messy, no matter how you look at it. I wouold definatley invest in some bungie cords. Good luck getting it all cleaned...
