Ok, they could not carry enough reams of blank paper and toner then..
Point is, it's easy to make quota if there was one.

There's apparently quota. It's been popping up in the local news lately. In utah anyways.Dharok Thanks this.

google is a friend... human reaction time is 0.25 seconds (that's 1/4) to a visual stimulus.. so acording to you it's safe to be 1/4 seconds behind someone. By the time you see the brake lights you've hit them.... sound good to you anyway...

Didn't pick up on the sarcasm I take it
I meant by that post to show how even at a relatively low freeway speed of 50 mph (80kph) the distance closes so fast the human often can't even react
It takes 1/4 second to process "uh oh better hit brakes" another 1/4 second to physically move your foot and apply brakes, and if in a vehicle with air brakes another 1/4 until the brakes actually begin to clamp - at which point it is often too late.DDlighttruck, fargonaz, KB3MMX and 2 others Thank this. -
Its actually 6 seconds. Science and math both have shown it takes the human brain 6 seconds from when you see the back up form in front of you, to process and then apply brakes. Its talked about in the smith system.
You canucks might be different at .25 seconds?
I just read more of the thread.... i should stop skipping posts.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
My draw to open fire is a #### sight slower than that. If you want it to be accurate.
If I was just up out of bed, no coffee yet and nothing working right internally, my reaction time to shot fired on the timer click is around 1.45 which is really horrible. When everything is running well after a evening of training and shooting with the rust broken off and scraped.. I can get it down to roughly .65 and still be on target. I can do a little bit faster if I really weally had to, but injury in the form of shooting one self in the leg or someone else increases quite a bit. that is where those Chinook Torniquets come in.
A big truck can make it almost to the 40 yard line from the goal line at 65 in 1.5 seconds just about.... -

Here is what I think about your .15 or 1.5 seconds.
Visual Expert Human Factors: Driver Reaction Time
Its long, but very good. -
This is probably what they are going to be using... Laser Technology - Tailgating Enforcement It is a LIDAR unit that measures the distance and speed of the first vehicle then the distance and speed of the second vehicle. I sat through a product pitch for this unit and it seems to be legit. All LIDAR unit work based on a time-distance calculation that determines the speed of a vehicle by measuring the distance a vehicle travels over a set time (usually about 1/3 of a second). The tailgating version of the LIDAR unit measures the speed of the first vehicle then measures the speed of the following vehicle. Since it already knows the distances and elapsed time between measurements involved of the two vehicles, it can determine the following distance between the two vehicles. Because the measurements are taken at the front of each vehicle, there is an error but it is in favor of the following (i.e. violator) vehicle.

They should deploy that up here on the fruit loop around Washington DC.
flood Thanks this.
