when I'm being unloaded, I can't make out what the crane operator is saying to me. But when I'm pulling out the gate, 1/2 mile away, he's crystal clear. What am I doing wrong? Stock cobra... low end model with a big antenna
Why can I hear broadcasts from my yard half a mile away but not when I'm in the yard?

Turn the RF gain down when you're in the yard.
ExOTR, rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this. -

Yeah it looks like the dx19...I have a dx ultra III, not a bad little radio at all..just make sure to stick with the stock mic. They do ok for what they are , at least mine does.

Mine would get overloaded and sometimes even spontaneously change the channel when someone with a splatterbox piece of #### was close by. Cut the RF gain all the way back when you're in the yard.
Blaskowitz, ExOTR, rabbiporkchop and 1 other person Thank this. -
