HELP!! Anyone who knows this business!

I'm averaging about double what you're making, doing teams at Schneider. It sucks teaming but you get better runs.

 

Last trainee I had who did a lease purchase (at a different company than mine) made just enough every month to pay for the truck plus about $150 to keep him alive, then the freight dried up mysteriously. Company drivers kept moving though, odd that, eh? Rinse and repeat till he gave up and turned the truck back in. Lost his whole investment, broker than when he started. Said he knew he was in trouble when he opened the desk in his "new" truck and there were two previous lease agreements still in there.

You want money, not a truck. As someone on here said, would you lease the grill to work at Burger King? Go be a company driver, let somebody else take the ownership risks.

 

Walmart is always good to stop at if you can. Look at the trucker path app along your route and see if there is a Walmart you will be passing. I don't stop at ones with small parking lots as it is more difficult to get in and out of the lot and I'd be taking up a lot of spaces. If you see one with a large parking area and other trucks there then it's a safe bet you can stop, do your shopping and be on your way. If you don't have one already get a good 12v cooler for your truck to keep lunchmeat or anything else you might want that needs to be kept cold. The 12v lunchbox cookers work really well for heating soup and other canned goods. All of this will save you $$ so your not getting gouged at the truck stops, and with having food in the truck you'll have something to eat if you park at a rest stop or somewhere without food options.

 

Coffee pot driven by a inverter, no more 2.00 coffee in the truckstop and you can purchase a pound of folgers or whatever and it's going to come out to .20 a cup provided you have good water by the case to support that habit.

Also don't forget about the benefit of you rewards cards for fueling. I hardly ever pay for hot or cold drink refills thanks to earned points when fueling. You also earn free showers by fueling, at $12 a shower that can add up

 

You can make $1000 a week or pretty close to it without having a weekly truck payment. What they NEVER tell you when they are spewing that lease program bs is that if you have a bad week with not many miles you still owe the weekly payment. Not to mention all of the associated maintenance costs and headaches. Best way to get out of debt is to not incur more debt, you don't get out of a hole by digging deeper

 

Don't test out in an Auto, the DMV will likely put an Auto Only restriction on your license and that's all you will be able to drive. Yes the autos are nice but its even better to be able to drive both in case the need arises.

 

I'm making about twice what she's making and I'm solo, don't ever have to worry about my Co driver falling asleep at the wheel. I'm not downing team driving, can be some awesome $$ but if she's just trying to make more than a burger flipper she can do it solo with a good company

 

Companies that can be considered good and hire new drivers is a pretty short list, and even then they'll be getting team leftovers both in freight and equipment. To be fair if I weren't making more $ I'd quit in a heartbeat because sleeping in an earthquake simulator as a light sleeper is pretty horrible.
