You can brag all you want, you travel down a two lane road and someone texting goes left of center 50 feet before you get to them there's no amount of preplanning you can do to prevent it.

Put this exact scenario on a dark country two lane road with ditches and tell me how you prepare for it please.

Exactly JD. There is only so much you can prepare for. The rest is all reaction and the wrong reaction can be deadly.Airborne, rank, Razororange and 3 others Thank this.

Special breed? I have seen full time steel haulers with garbage securement many times. They throw a couple chains, close the curtain and "Out of sight, out of mind" out the gate they go.FerrissWheel, Airborne, snowman_w900 and 12 others Thank this. -
What's so special about them? Everyone in this business thinks what they do is special.
Airborne, HighCountry, Razororange and 7 others Thank this. -

Agreed. Anything 40k and over and if you have an aluminum deck, given the right condition,.. there arent enough chains to hold a 45k lb coil in place should you hit a stationary object.
I saw a picture of a trailer that had broken in half from there the coil was secured. The truck had gone off road and the chains literally ripped the trailer in half as the coil left the trailer.
When I do steel coils,.. if I have a 42k lb coil,.. I have at the bare minimum,.. 40k wll of chains on it. I dont care what others think of that. I have seen others use 1 chain and 1 strap over the top of a 30k coil and the shipper let him leave like that.
HurstFerrissWheel and Airborne Thank this.
