I can't help but be overly cautious. Like Hurst, I keep renewing it "just in case." However, I don't take loads to refineries anymore. Got tired of the attitudes from their rent-a-cops.
I tried using it as an ID when going into shippers, but the security guards didn't know what it was. They were only trained to ask for my drivers license, which is a sore spot for me. Too much arguing with a brick wall.
But, someday I might actually have a use for it. Which is why I keep wasting the money on it.

After looking at their web site, it seems a renewal is handled just like a new application. WTF? I get they need to run background checks again but why can't much of the hassle be eliminated since one is already in the system?
So, I guess if one lapses (expires), that's irrelevant and does not affect the standard BS process. Typical government BS -
They have to redo the background check no matter what.

in case your fingerprints changed or the last federal check was somehow forged by Russia.

Jeez you people cheap as ****. Look TWIC cars cost a about 150$ for 5! YEARS, that's approximately 250weeks , 150:250=less then 2 dollars a month! If 2 buks a month money for you.. Well god bless you soul...

The money isn't the issue BUT why should people go through all of that background checking #### just to make the same amount of money? All of these extra endorsements and IDs cost money and time to acquire yet companies don't want to pay more for them. #### that. Praise Allah!
