Hello to all of you forum truckers. !!! I am getting ready to be trained for a cdl and start my driving career. I have a friend who is going to do the same and we will drive together. We have never done this before and will be asking all of you lots of questions. I appreciate any advice or info that any of you have for us.
My first question is for you male drivers. 1: Do you recommend this career for women drivers?
We both have a lot of debt that we want to pay off but have been reading how these training companies, just train the minimum and we don't want to go out there on the road without all the knowledge we need so hopefully this forum and you truckers can help us.
Thanks in advance:) More questions to follow....

You'll do just fine. Trucking is a great career for women and men, equally.
Which company will you train with?

I would recommend trucking to anyone. OTR is probably the best way to pull yourself out of a debt hole if you are able to cut loose stuff like rent/mortgage and car payments and bank thousands every month.

Chinatown, there are companies that have ads offering training but I want to check them all out first. It's something that I believe I can do but I want to learn all I can before I do this. Thanks for the support !!!

Its a roll of the dice on whether you receive good training or not. Most the trainers are new drivers themselves. You'll be learning a lot of stuff on your own.But you'll do fine it takes time. You and your friend can help each other once you and her start teaming.

Scroll through the forums, read and absorb all you can. That's what I did for a few years until I was able to make the leap last year.

I cant think of anything female specific you would need to know. This industry is truly gender equal. You will earn the same as your male counterparts and there are so many women of all ages and sizes driving that you won't be considered an anomaly.
