It's normal for hard headed people that have already decided which company they're going to work for before cdl school classes even start. They ask dozens of questions about dozens of companies, yet in the back of their mind, they already know where they're going. They just waste peoples time on here.
-
Plenty of companies where a new cdl grad can double that pay. It's not so much the cpm that makes a bigger paycheck, it's the miles and accessorial pays.
Several companies to choose from in North Jersey where you can make a lot more per week than you're making now.
Calex Logistics - probably see California every week; that's a lot of miles.
Freymiller - coast to coast refrigerated trucking. Drivers with less than 6 mos. experience go thru their "Restore Program"
Magnum Ltd. - refrigerated trucking
Abilene Motor Express - coast to coast dry van & refrigerated trucking.
Watkins-Shepard - terminal in Sayreville,NJ. Dry van trucking.Fa-reed needs Thanks this. -
No reason new driver should not earn same wage as old hand. Not like any special skills are required. They are doing the same job. Up here average .45 cpm.
Fa-reed needs and Chinatown Thank this. -
Agree; I never have understood the pay gap due to seniority with a job like driving a truck.
-
Well that depends on what truck your driving. Send a green driver out on a RGN or triples or a gas truck. No. Training, experience and a history of responsibility. Then pay increases.

You rang? I've saved 25k in 7 months. That's 25k that I didn't spend on things for the truck, food, hotels, bills... that's just straight up money in the bank. Granted, I am frugal and I rarely go home. With performance pay I was making .41cpm the day I stepped off the trainer's truck. Now I am making decidedly more.
Here's an average check for me now...
That's with 723 in truck payment, about 350 in insurance, associated fees, tax services etc etc etc... not training anyone, and I'm putting .10 of every mile into my savings account(not Swift's).
You can make a lot more than 500 a week. I made that the first time I went home with Swift, and I only drove 2 days that week.Fa-reed needs Thanks this. -
Which Company is that?
-
Gilster Mary-Lee. The guy I teamed with is still there teaming, pulled in $91K in 2016. And he's fixing to hit his 10 years with the company so his % of the company profit-sharing and bonuses are gonna jump as well. I moved on in 2014 and am now running linehaul...
