    @Smut
    Have you find any company yet from Texas?

    I decided to stick with Swift for a few more months to have at least a full year of experience with 1 company. I have job hopped in the past and I feel one year of experience will look better on my resume. I want to leave eventually but honestly I was butt-hurt when I made this post for not dispatching me for the weekend. I sat for 3 days before I got a load. I talked to my DM and got it sorted out for now. I feel I could have screwed up my career leaving Swift so fast like I did other companies

    I do want to pull tanker-hazmat loads because there is plenty of that here in Corpus Christi.

    Just an update, I ended up turning in my lease truck at Swift and went to Service Transport. I just finished training and will be getting into my own truck this week. Looks like I started at a good time because they are changing the pay for OTR drivers. No more percentage pay, its mileage pay plus hourly for loading and unloading. The pay seems good for an entry level tanker/hazmat position. Thanks for the referral guys.

    I'll probably make a thread about it sometime next month, after I get a few paychecks under my belt.

    So far so good. There is a lot of paper work involved with each load which is frustrating sometimes but that's really the hardest part. I just finished a load from Houston, Texas to Selkirk, New York. 1800 miles with 6 days to get there. This load is supposed to pay me $1600ish which is the easiest $1600ish I've ever made. Everyone is real helpful and friendly. Rob is the terminal manager in Corpus and he's real easy going. I enjoy it so far.

    @ Smut They gave you six days to get there or six to get there and back? If it was six to get there that was a lot of time. Would they let you do it quicker if you wanted? Also hows the equipment do you get your own truck and are they nice? I also noticed they went to hrly pay for loading and unlding.How is that going? What is a normal week like for you and how often do you get home? Thanks any and as much info from you to make my decision is appreciated. I live in Rockport have 19 yrs trucking 4 tanker yankin.

    Six days to get there and 3 days to get back. I called dispatch to see if I can unload early but they wanted it at the original appointment time. I was told some recievers will unload early but not much. You do get your own truck after training and they are decent. They have a mix of volvos, freightliners, internationals, and Macks. My only gripe about the trucks is that they are automatics. I can't really say what a normal week looks like because this is really my first week out. I completed 7 days of training and I was home every night for that. The next week when I sent solo I just did a short haul because I took time off to move into my new apartment. They did move to mileage pay plus hourly for loading/unloading this past weekend so I'm unsure how that's gonna work out. i was told you get 15 an hour upon arrival through departure. Since it is an out and back kinda company you could be home every 5-10 days. They even have some local loads to keep you in the area but it seems the senior drivers compete for that. No problem, I hope this info helps. If you have any other questions let me know.
