You'll obviously fight for your right to smoke, regardless of what advice people with much more experience try to impart to you. I can't go after you, because I made the same mistake. God bless you, man. I hope you make the right choice.UsualSuspect and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Actually I think at some point the FMCSA will allow drivers to have THC in their urine when weed becomes a legal substance, and you can bet at some point it will be. What I think will happen is they will differentiate a max THC level while on duty and not worry about off duty use. Somewhat like they currently do for alcohol.

Not in OUR lifetime; doubtedly.UsualSuspect and pattyj Thank this.

That's what I'm thinking otherwise companies wouldn't have 2 drug tests in place.UsualSuspect and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Only 2 things are required. Congressional or DEA action legalizing weed AND the development of a test that can measure the current real time THC levels in the human body. Then once the test is accepted it gets used, Much like a cop can use a breathalyzer for alcohol today. I am not going to give a timeline on any of this, but I would say no more then 10 years.
BUMBACLADWAR and fishonron Thank this. -
Just because you see some people at a truck stop smoking pot does not mean they are truckers. Anyone can go to truck stops and more and more those stops are considering themselves "Travel Plaza's" and catering to the general public
Anyone with a CDL is subject to random tests and would be risking their career if they come up positive for pot or other prohibited drugs.
Even without a CDL and it's required random drug testing, should you ever be involved in an accident (your fault or not) as a commercial carrier for hire you will be tested after the accident and you would probably put your dad out of business after a positive result is found and the other party's lawyers see those results.BUMBACLADWAR and pattyj Thank this. -
To be honest,we had an OOP that had a 25,999 box truck.Wasn't in the drug consortium. No airbrakes,no CDL.Always smoked at the dock after work. Now,in an accident (I believe they may do a blood test on site) or similar especially with injuries. This could be a big lawsuit for the other party, with a good lawyer.Sounds fairly risky overall.

I love how you think professional drivers should sympathize and help you with your desire to keep smoking weed. I don't give a rat's ### if you have "chronic pain". There are no drivers on the road who are ok with you being stoned and driving. Like PattyJ said- go ask your dad if he's cool with that.
dunchues and UsualSuspect Thank this.
