I am a lease contractor. I was running a load from Kansas to Miami.I was ahead of schedule a day and a half. As I'm riding through Atlanta, which is my home state, my wife is rushed to the hospital from her job. She had miscarried our baby. I wasn't planning on stopping by the house cause I need all the miles I can get, being behind on my lease.well once the emergency came up.I dropped my trailer in a secured parking lot and Bob tailed to the hospital.where I found out the news of losing my unborn child.then the company calls and gets belligerent talking about not dropping a loaded trailer. I said I know but my wife had to be rushed to the hospital and I had no other way of getting to her.so I drove here Bob tail.well as soon as they discharged us from the hospital I went back and hooked to the trailer and went home with my wife my delivery was still 30 hours from being due and I was roughly 9 hours away.they had another driver come and unhook my truck and take my load. When I went back to the lot only the tractor was there.when I called they talking about the load want secured.how was it not when I hooked the truck back to the trailer. Then the dispatcher says we'll you wasn't with the load.what difference does that make.besides you didn't know I wasn't with the load when the other driver was sent out here to take my load. How do they get away with stuff like this.I never said I couldn't complete my delivery nor did they ask me if I needed someone to complete it.they just took it and basically cheated me out of 1200 miles.then try to send me to recover the other guys trailer and complete his delivery which was 750 miles and due in three days.I declined the load and I hope it gets there late.but can they do that with me being a contractor.

They literally have me by the balls.I have to return the truck to Texas and since I haven't gotten a pay check in two weeks I have no funds to get home from Texas once returning the truck.so I would get an abandonment on my record.I was trying to complete my three months do I don't have to go through training with the next company.I just can't tolerate being out with another trainer for four weeks.I feel getting my cdl was the worst decision of my life when I thought it would change my life for the better

As someone who has suffered through a miscarriage with my wife, I offer you my sincere condolences. At this point, worrying about Trans scams trailer should be the least of your worries. I realize there's a payment due, and miles to go, but your wife is far more important right now. She's going to need you around for a bit while she comes to grips with the loss. And you will as well.

I work local, home everyday. When my wife micarried, I was at work. She was at the doctor's office when she got the news. My boss offered me the rest of the week off, but I declined. Two days later we went to the hospital to have everything removed, and I went right from the hospital to work. Biggest mistake I ever made. She was left at home to grieve on her own until I returned 12 hours later. Three years later, she still deals with the depression from those days, and I deal with the guilt of not being there for her. So, for her sake, don't do as I did. Be a husband and be there for her, however long it takes. Trans scam will survive without you, and there's better jobs out there

Thanks for your words of wisdom...I understand completely.I tired putting things into perspective saying well god must be working and wants me to stay home for a while that's why this happened this way. I don't want them to charge me with abandonment and it will be hard for me to get a decent job

One thing I have learned recently is that most companies don't actually give a dam about you. You are expendable to them, a commodity.
If you can find a place to work that does care about it's employees, they would understand your predicament and not hold it against you if you're current employer puts it down as abandonment.
Your wife will have greater respect for you, if you stand by her side in her time of need.

Isn't it interesting how some sidewalk sissy that sits behind a desk for 8 hours and takes his candy yass home every single day has the answers to all life's problems in his little employee handbook, "Dispatching Dummies, Revised Edition" by J.J Keller?
