One day my phone rings, not that this would be an unusual thing to have happen, or that the person calling was unusual. The part that was slightly out of the ordinary was, I was only on the first day and several hours into this three day to delivery load. When I answered the phone, the customary greetings and salutations took place. Then we got to the real reason for the call. The day prior to this conversation I had loaded some green wood headed to a lamination plant up north. As the last truck on site and loaded, I was there quite late finishing securement and tarping the load. Did I mention it was late july and a bit warm down in Mississippi at the time? Well after finishing up, and taking a short break to get water and cool off a bit. I started going over my options for showers, food and parking for the night. Time was not a problem, had several hours left on the clock and book. Still it was going to be some 2 to 2.5 hours to get to a place for all of these things I was looking for. So here I am, sweat soaked clothes starting to dry and get crunchy. Have a a few small bottles of plain water left and some wipes and my towel. Thats when I see it....yep, sure is, a shower. Now it is one of the green emergency chemical wash stations, but hey, thats a shower and it has water plumbed to it. So I go over give it a good check, see if it works, Oh yeah, it does. Jump in truck, pull up to more or less block the view from the parking area and road. Get a big towel, soap, shampoo and razor. we got a shower lined up. Gonna be good, get this sweat offa me and into some nice clean clothes. Lets get to it, you guessed it, figured no one around to see whats going on, strip down to birthday suit, grab the handel and start shower time. So all done, squeeeky clean and shaved. Dry off, wrap towel around, grab dirties and into the truck and clean clothes. Now back to the phone call, and the reason for it. Seems that this shower scene was all recored on the security system cameras. While certainly not as famous as other shower scenes, it was in full color. I was asked to refrain from such activities in the future. Apperantly they offered the full video to the company for proof. They declined the offer as far as I know.

So it was you in that video I saw with the teaser line Hot Trucker Shower. My eyes are still messed up and I only saw 20 seconds before I was able to close the link out....

If you gotta take a semi public shower, swim trunks are always better than the birthday suit.

I was up in Canada one time as a company driver and I needed a shower. I was parked at the shipper when it looked like it was going to rain. I got everything ready and just got a few drops. Next thing I know they have an in ground sprinkler system and it started ,so I went over to one of the heads that go around in circles. That's how I got my shower. I didn't care how stupid I looked it sure felt good.

Well, I had a hell of a time getting a pipe load on today...overheight. took them seven tries and me finally telling the shipper to either take some of it off or all of it right now, to get it legal. 6 hours shot. Lord.this business can make you a little nuts sometimes.

    More later...

Man did it rain today. From Siloam Springs, AR all the way through Memphis. And I don't mean a little drizzle either. At one point I saw a old man in a.robe building a large boat with a bunch of animals standing around looking nervous. Torrential downpour is what we're talking about here. For all that I managed to squeeze out 625 miles and ended my day in Lebanon, TN. At uncle Pete's truck stop...good food in the resturant. Meeting a driver in the morning to pass off this SC bound load for one headed to Green Bay. Funny, you give them your two week notice and suddenly there are miles to spare and no one rushing you back to the office. To late, time to move up in the industry.

    How was y'alls day?
