Leaving the handle down also will help to keep the next driver from getting a soaked crotch in bad weather.

    JReding Thanks this.

I watched a guy do that in our yard truck. I'm sitting there watching his wheels spin and he couldn't figure out why. :laughing6:

I put it in low to get it off the fifth wheel, then stow it. I run a spring ride and I don't want it wiping all the grease off.

JReding and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Being that I haul intermodal, my crank handles either spin very easily, or I wrestle with the bleeping things like I'm going 10 rnd with Tyson, and that's with the shoes 2" off the ground to begin with.

I remember when UPS first introduced the air actuated landing gear on the intermodal trailers. More than a few hostlers forgot to lower the landing gear, UPS drivers were not pleased.

Sounds like one that hasn't seen grease in years.

They can't go that long. If the DOT sticker isn't current, they won't let you take it. They have to do a pm before it can get outgated.

That's because some A hole left it two inches off the ground and pulled out without dumping the bags. It destroys the threads on the screws on the inside of the legs.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

That, and crane operators dropping a 48,000# container on an empty chassis doesn't help either. Used to be, when they had "Z" vans, when they load them on the flatcar, they'd bump the dolly legs, making it hard to retract. Then, it was too much for the gearbox, and you'd end up stripping the gear inside. That was usually the start of a pretty crappy day,,,

Bean Jr., Big Don and noluck Thank this.
