Well I'm just doing a 34 hour reset now. Let everyone cool down plus I kind of need it for my 70. I'm not sure of the attitude state right now but I'm hoping come tomorrow they'll be giving me something good.

Looks like that 100 mile load is the one you wanted, in fact, you want 4-5 of them a day.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

That's why you don't piss off your dispatcher. you can usually ask for another one, but if you do, get one in a different office. Also it looks like Werner wants the L/Os to run shorthaul and the company drivers to run long haul.

Edit: or the opposite if they're dicks.

I've been getting decent runs. 1700, 2500, 1000 mile runs. But they keep throwing these #### 0 mile shags at me which only cost me money. We'll see how he acts tomorrow when I'm reset, if he gives me another shag then I'll be getting another dispatcher.

Okay, you need to change your thinking.

At $1.02 a mile you're basically putting yourself in the hole, and paying yourself less than if you were a company driver, plus you won't have money for maintenance. you don't want long low paying runs. You want short high paying runs because it raises your profit. If you're not convinced wait until you pay taxes this quarter and then something not covered by warranty or insurance happens to your money maker.

Thinking like a company driver will put you out of business fast. To summarize: Miles bad, big profit margin good.

Edit: but yeah tell them to #### off with the trailer moves.

I don't understand why guys would buy a truck for these kind of rates. Is it rate plus fsc, even so. How can $1.02 be profitable.
Lets just use some round numbers.
$2.69 fuel per gallon at 6 mpg is 0.448 per mile.

How does 0.572 pay for driver pay, maintenance, insurance, tolls, plates etc, etc?

Can't a driver just go do line haul for one of the good ltl companies and do better?
They pay what about 0.55 per mile or so, plus benefits and some kind of retirement. And the best part is, you turn the truck off at the end of your shift and no responsibilities.

Not beating anyone up, but I think there are better opportunities out there.
