Maybe I'll just get a k40...cnsper Thanks this. -
It must be the rough roads breaking the K30 whips. I've been using a K30 mag mount with a 3-foot whip for a couple of years on my highway sedan. It takes highway speeds and winds without problems. That's why I say the rough roads must be the problem.
It seems to me trying to fit a thicker whip might put too much pressure on the little K30 base.
You could try a Wilson Lil Wil, which is the same size as the K30. Maybe it would be sturdier for your application.
If you can accommodate a taller antenna, the 4-foot Wilson 500 or the 5-foot Wilson 1000 or the K40 you mentioned are all great mag mounts that would provide longer range as well.Blaskowitz Thanks this. -
I'm afraid a Lil will would do the same thing since they are very similar.
I honsestly think it's the rough roads too. It always happens when my head is bouncing off the ceiling then I hear the thing break and hit the roof and it's on the side of the road.
I'm looking for the sturdiest magnet mount. Something with a thicker whip that won't do so much swaying and wear itself out. Does the k40 have a thicker whip?
I don't own the truck so I don't want to dedicate an afternoon routing coax through the cab so magnet mount is perfect and I can make the coax look good with minimal time. -

You could always do something like this, with a 3' Firestik...

On your roof would be the much preferred place for it. It should work like gangbusters up there.

You are breaking one of these? -
