I'm pretty sure that the statutory height for the state of Mississippi is 13' 6" and as one driver has already stated that sometimes Louisiana has been known for getting a bug up their ###.
From my experience the only people that I have ever had come out and actually check my height is California and that was on interstate 8 coming out of Arizona. If I remember correctly they were also doing an inspection so that I could have the California inspection sticker in my window.
With all that said I would seriously think about staying as close to the statutory height as possible because sooner or later it will come back and bite you. -
LA is 14' so it doesn't matter. You may be the lucky one to get messed with in MS but we have 100 trucks a day or so going thru MS close to 14' and have for years and I have never heard of the first one having problems.

Mississippi DOT legal load limits:
Length: The maximum length permitted by Mississippi DOT is 53’ for trailers.
Width: The maximum allowed width is 8’ 6” wide.
Height: The maximum height permitted to travel on Mississippi roads and highways is 13’ 6”
Weight: 80,000 lbs overall GVW and nor more than 12,000 lbs on your steer.
Overhang: You are permitted to have front overhang of 3’ or less.
Car Haulers can have up to 6 ft beyond tail lights with a red flag.
Car haulers can be heavier than 12,000 on steers depending on the tire rating.
J Rating is up to 14,600 on steers. -
If you can do it at 13'6 or if that works for you then by all means do it. If we did that then it would cripple us on what we could haul. I understand that the law is MS is 13'6 I'm just telling you that we have never been bothered at 14' and have even had DOT tell us that they won't mess with us. This is hundreds of trucks in and out every week of every year and I can't tell you one person who has ever had a problem.
