Front brakes is something rarely adjusted. In fact if I remember my manual wrench days long before auto adjuster anything modern, front brakes are deliberately not allowed to "Lock" the two steers up front.
Without dealing with exactly what you have done or are trying to do to the particular truck, preferably with pictures... I cannot venture to help you further. I would just make a fool of myself.JimmyWells Thanks this. -
I tightened the auto slacks down (just like I would on any other axle) then backed each one off 1/4 turn. After hearing the shoes dragging, I decided to do 1/2 turn. When brakes are set the wheels spin freely though. Just doesn't seem right. They're working fine with the peddle though.

If you're talking about parking brakes on a steer axle they don't exist (at least I have never seen it).
BigBob410, Cottonmouth85, stayinback and 3 others Thank this. -
I've never noticed this before. Learn something new every day! Thanks.

The chambers on the steer axle should only have 1 airline to each of them. That will be your air supply from the brake pedal valve.
x1Heavy, daf105paccar and JimmyWells Thank this. -

Standard on FH Volvo's.
Option on Paccar's EU trucks(Daf).AModelCat and JimmyWells Thank this. -
Steer axles brakes only apply with air pressure, safety feature if you lose air pressure which would cause front to lock up and go into a uncontrollable slide.
So if you don't no this you should not be working on semi brakes, and probably don't have a certificate.
Serious business semi brake repairs or adjustments.Tb0n3 Thanks this.
