What do you think of the international 8600 385hp used for end dump in Texas?
Or does anyone have any suggestions on what is a good strong day cab for end dump but still at a fair price?

That truck should be your last choice. End dumps are shorter and put stress on the drivetrain, and a 385 hp truck isn't built for it. For a daycab, look for something with at least 430 hp, a good trans like a 15 speed deep reduction or at least a 9 speed. Also, 40k rears and at least a 3.73 ratio or shorter, especially if you are on soft ground coming out of the pit. That should give you an idea where to start looking.
Derricks Thanks this. -
Iv got a 99 mack with pto ready to go I'll sell you.....pulled a 22 foot end dump for three years with it

Have a T800 that's pulls, end dump, milk, and belt. It listed under KW T800 2010 on this site. Classified and trading post.

Off the top of your head do you know of which trucks come standard with those specs?
Freightliner cascadia? -

That truck pictured isn't bad. I would remove the air dam, and do some 'adjusting' to the egr valve, cooler and dpf system if it was me. Then again, I would try to avoid the emissions stuff altogether. That 99 Mack or T800 listed in the above threads would serve you well.
Dump trucking is rough on equipment, and you probably won't get great fuel mileage. So look for a daycab, no air faring, as little plastic fairing as possible. This can be a kenworth, Mack, international, peterbilt, Volvo etc. just go to truck paper and do a detailed search using those parameters. -
Ok thank so much for your reply it is greatly appreciated. I've also been looking at a Volvo, vnl64t300. Although it does have a 12.5k on the front axle and 40k on the back. 435hp? What's the most amount of weight usually pulled with a end dump? 26k lbs?
I work for a soda distribution company and this past weekend pulled 45k on a single axle 09 international. Now I know that's not the recommended but it handled it fairly well. Although I am not in search of a smaller truck like that that but how much of a difference is it pulling soda with 45k on a 40ft van and pulling how ever much k on a 32ft end dump? Please reply -
Ya I am looking for same things as you. Best luck I have had is with pre emissions 4 sure. Lots of idling with dirt, rock, and asphalt work. Pre egr is where I would look. But 4 more options stay 06 or under 4 sure. And like others said. 430hp min. I like 475 min honestly and if you can find a dbl frame heavy duty truck even better

You are in over your head.
End dumps load to legal capacity or over. 80k gross or better. Out of loose and/or wet surfaces that are uneven as often as not.
You buy a tractor suited to the job you need: brand isn't nearly as relevant as specs.SL3406, BigBob410, Toomanybikes and 4 others Thank this.
