I really have to start paying attention. I thought that you said your nails(finger nails) were dry and cracking. As far as nailing strips maybe Thompson water seal?
passingthru69 and Razororange Thank this. -

Boiled linsead oil. Brush it on on a warm day and try not to get it on the deck. Very hard to get off the aluminum. Try and do it when it's not going to be used or rained on for a couple of days. My trailer is old and well used but my research said this is what to use. I have been doing 2x a year.

I knew and old timer who used linseed oil on his flat bed and double drop.

Believe it or not I have used vegetable oil before. Cheap and makes it waterproof

I just have one. Wife would skin me if I had more.

Used oil is what I've always used, at the advice of a 40 year old timer. It'll take a good gallon per nailer on a hot day. It does make them a bit soft, so nails slide out, and forklift tires will bend them when they're about worn out. Mine are 17 years old and probably should have been replaced 3 years ago, but I'll get away with replacing the middle two that forklifts like to tear up.
