Reputable 2290 e-file?

Coming out of Baltimore,on I-95 North,they now have express lanes where you pay a toll to run parallel to free I-95.This goes for a couple of miles,then they merge back together.Day and night,even when traffic is next to nothing,cars,trucks,peal away and go up the paid part,just giving money away for no reason.
Paying someone to file your 2290,falls into the same category,imho.In over 40 years as an o/o,I always managed to pay my own,never an issue,and I'm far from being a paperwork person.Always grinded my ###,to send the govt. money,even back when it was $220.for this,but we all did it,no biggie.Why pay someone to do this,esp. if it sounds like now they're going to spam you,and probably sell your email addy?I know it's an electronic world now,but .....................aw.................go ahead flame away,old fart rant,I can take it.

 

There was local "permit service" that opened up here in town. I was thinking "great, now I can get all my oversize permits through them", because TN can be a real pain dealing with them directly. So I called and asked, the lady on the phone said "Oh, we just do 2290, IFTA, and IRP". All 3 of them I can do as easy as I can gather the info to send to a 3rd party so I see no reason in paying somebody else just to file it.

I know it's just $10 for somebody to file your 2290, but $10 here $10 there adds up.

I get coupons and just do it online at express tax.. well worth the few bucks to do it on iPhone at the truck stop, emailed stamped copy on 10 minutes and be done with it. I have no problem paying for convenience..

 

Taking time off from work and family time and driving an hour to the nearest IRS office to pay for the 2290 to save $10 is not a wise use of my time. In North Carolina, only the IRS or the Commercial DMV in Raleigh and Charlotte can do 2290. Online processing for 2290 is the way to go. I dont believe we can pay the 2290 directly to the IRS online can we ?

 

No need to go to a IRS office. Google "IRS 2290" and a fillable, printable 2290 form will come up in PDF format. Fill it out, print it out, slap a stamp on it, and mail it in. In a couple of weeks, a stamped copy of your 2290 will magically appear in your mail.

 

Up until a few years ago,the govt. used to automatically mail you the forms,if you had filed once.Return pre addressed envelope,simple instructions,and forms.Use to come around May,June,iirc,gave you plenty of time to mail it in.Now you have to print it off yourself.For 10 bucks,I'll do that.Guess everyone has a different value of a dollar.

i always use expresstrucktax.com they are the best for me plus they are form the US so when you call and have a question you get an actual AMERICAN on the phone not a robot or someone you cant hardly understand. just sayin. i heard about them from a few buddies of mine who swear by them

 

ive always used expresstrucktax this year they are sendng a ton of emails to remind you though but i usually wait until the last minute hahah the government isnt going to get my money any sooner than they have to have it! anyone else with me?
