I believe they had everything drained and ready, this storm is unprecedented, they just couldn't predict what and is going to fall. So far it's dropped more than 3 feet over and above Ike, Allison and the memorial day flood. I've been here for 4 days, the only way around here is by boat.Getsinyourblood Thanks this.

My brother attempted to make delivery, but I-45 shut down. He got off on side streets, parked in a mall with hundreds of boats on trailers that are trying to get close enough to launch and aid in the rescue. Right now he is following a convoy of FEMA rigs heading in his general direction, hoping to use side roads to get through. After this load he is being asked to bobtail to LA on I-10 to continue shuttling loads to Houston.
After I refused that same Houston load I got an overnight run to Midland, now dispatched with a load of drill pipe headed to a drilling rig near Shreveport, LA. So far Shreveport is just north of the monster, but something tells me I will need to break out my tall steel toe rubber boots and get dirty when I deliver.Big Don and Getsinyourblood Thank this. -
Reports I'm watching say tomorrow or Wednesday it'll hit Shreveport, storm is slowly moving NE.Lepton1 Thanks this.

Then I need to start boogying back to OKC after I make delivery. ###### e-logs...

They are saying this is an "800 year event". In the last decade I know we have had several storms that qualified as 500 plus year events. Flood zones are getting blown away with the intensity of rainfall in Harvey and other storms. Maybe it's time we start wising up to the fact that water needs to go somewhere.
I can't find the link to the article I read yesterday, talking about the frustrations of officials in the New Orleans area, trying to get the Army Corp of Engineers to issue permits for them to be able to rebuild the bayous, the natural sponge. Permits still aren't issued.
Houston has had exponential growth, paving over areas that used to be able to absorb rain. Now that 800 year event is hammering Houston.
It's about time we start planning with more severe weather events in mind and make ###### sure we keep our sponges ready to absorb the excess. -

Otis goes viral
Lepton1, austinmike, Big Don and 2 others Thank this. -
From Beaumont all the way to Alexandria, LA, the side roads were beginning to flood this morning. With more rain coming in, Louisiana is already in trouble.
