This is for the lady driver's! In your career as a trucker what was the most scariest experience you've ever had or witnessed? When you first started was it harder for you to get runs and did you ever experience discrimination? Did you feel safe working over the road when you first started ? , did some of you find love while being in this business?

OK, last things first. Are you aware that there is a forum for the ladies here? https://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/forums/ladies-room.280/
You have been with the city for 17 years, so why in the name of God would you even consider giving that up until you have your 20 in? Think of the retirement you will be losing.
There's nothing that says you have to make the decision tomorrow. Or even next month. Give it a lot of time, and for heaven's sake, DON'T encourage the kid to get into driving if he isn't interested in it?BIGLOW46 Thanks this. -
No I didnt know that and to answer your question about 17yrs yes I havd been on my job and on my job we can retire at 11yrs and a day also Im only thinking part time driving and i would never encourage my son to leave school , the suggestion was to give the truck to my son if he decided to make some extra cash on the side. Aslo I have a business outside of my city job im a general contractor and if i did decide to walk I'll be fine.Big Don Thanks this.

Sounds like you're financially capable of testing the waters. Take it for a test run. Give it the time and dutifulness it deserves. Heck, it may just surprise you. From your posts, you seem to be a responsible business person. That, in and of itself, is something a lot of people whom have failed did not posses. Business acumen.....

A couple suggestions....
A guy I worked with. He owned half interest in a truck. I don't know if it included the trailer? One Friday night, we got off at midnight. That truck was sitting outside. He got in. Off they went for the weekend.
Or you could just get a trailer. Make it into the Binford Model 6100 RV.
BIGLOW46 Thanks this.
