Maybe they are in a Volvo with a short in the headlight switch. Maybe they are trying to draft off you for those few brief seconds to improve their fuel mileage bonus. Maybe they respect your driving ability so much they just want you to blink your lights back so they can swell with pride. Just a few suggestions.

You know what? Considering Freightliner in their infinite wisdom put the headlight switch out of my line of sight somewhere down by my shin, yeah it is a pain in the ### to dig around looking for it.

The turn signal stalk (the switch you accuse us all of never using?) actually flashes the brights and, get this, I don't even HAVE to take my hands off the steering wheel!! Imagine that! It's almost like it's designed that way.

But do go on about how back in your day you came to a complete stop at the city limits and waited for the chief of police to lead your mule through town while waving a lantern and if we all don't do that we're reckless maniacs.

Being is a gutless 64 mph truck, I always hit the headlight interrupter when your passing me, when your at a spot that I am comfortable with you coming back over. Some trucks ignore, some give the thanks blink and move over and others give a few thanks blinks and keep going in the fast lane....
I'm cool with whatever.... I'm just being polite and neighborly....
    I never hit the brights....

I have more of a problem with the ######## that merge back over before you can signal and almost rip your hood off and cause you to brake...... what's the ####ing rush.....

Every time one of the new cars with the super white lights hits a bump I think they are flashing their brights at me to signal a problem. I have pulled over to check out what's wrong a few times.
    Tire?
    Lights out?
Dragging a old woman in a wheelchair again?

That's really the only reason I do it, not to make any sort of "demand" is implied by some, but just to let the faster truck know he's past me and can come back over whenever he's ready.

You don't have to flash your lights you know. If you can't be arsed to reach down to the light switch to flash them there is another option you know. Simply don't flash your lights! If you are too lazy to do anything but flash high beams, well be a bit lazier and don't bother with anything.

Today I carried a laser gun with me to measure the passing distance. At three feet, I blinked my headlights, at 10 feet I hit the high beams, at 25 feet I told him "for the love of everything sacred, come over already before you get us all killed". At 100 feet I called the company's safety dept and asked why they wouldn't acknowledge my polite behavior. There was a lot of silence on the other end of the phone.

Yeah what's up with that? Hey New breeds it's on and off with the lights not bright lights in someone's mirrors... also on the courtesy side of this conversation I don't flash drivers over period. If someone flashes me over I will thank them back if you bright light me forget about it ...no thanks returned for blinding the #### out of me.

I never even look down to reach my headlight switch or my jakes, the switch is right where it's always been. Never should you flash ur brights at night. If your to darn lazy to turn off ur headlights then don't do anything.
