I know this is an old thread, but I'm interviewing with Fastenal and have a question. What kind of truck are the Class B drivers driving? Is it automatic, 5 speed, 10 speed, etc?
Anyone familiar with Fastenal?

the transmissions are automatics and six speed for the class b trucks. The day cabs and sleepers are 13 speed

I worked for Fastenal. They are of course one of the long line of companies that fired me.
I ran over the road from Edwardsville, KS to Indianapolis, IN. The man who hired me quit two days after I started. I don't think the new folks would have hired me. I was 50 plus. That is not a commit on the company just on the folks there. The run was easy enough but I was paired with someone who I came real close to punching. I did ask him to set outside of the truck for that very purpose. He thought better of it. The days I was paired with another gentleman were fine.
The job did not pay as much as it should have but it had good benefits and they gave you presents for Christmas and such. The route jobs in the straight trucks were not for me. They took too much time and the roads in Northern Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska are not the best driving in the winter.
Indianapolis at the time had racial problems. I came along after the lawsuit but it was still a very touchy place. I got along with the guys but the girls were angry all the time.
Anyway, my review of the place is that it is a company that will stand by you right up until you want them to stand by you. Then you are on your own. I give them a D out of all the places that I have worked for. -

Kstrong86 do you do the straight truck deliveries? Are you by yourself or do you have to run with a helper? Also, you say you unload the trucks AND load them back up when you get back to the yard? If you don't mind me asking what do the straight truck drivers start out at yearly?
They badly need drivers in Akron, OH, close to where I live now, so I have been considering them. I'd really like to work there for a year or 2 then transfer to a Fastenal yard in Tampa/Clearwater area. -

I should also add one of the benefits of working for the company is that you get a great discount on the products they sell. I got a snow blower way below retail.
